Belarusian Banks Interests Increased at 15.4%-18.8%
OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 May 2009 was announced, that Belarusian banks increased the average interest rates on corporate short-term deposits in Belarusian rubles (Br) to 18.8% in March 2009 from 8.8% in March 2008, an official with the information department of the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) told.
The interest rates on long-term deposits in Belarusian rubles increased to 15.4% from 6.6%
The interest rates on short-term deposits denominated in foreign currency rose to 9.7% from 5.4%. The interest rates on long-term deposits rose to 10.6% from 8.5%.
As of April 1, 2009, Belarusian ruble deposits of domestic companies amounted to 6.527 trillion rubles, down 21.1% in January-March. Currency deposits decreased 0.2% in January-March 2009 to U.S. USD 2.119 billion.
Interest rates on individual fixed-term Belarusian ruble deposits with banks were at 19.4%-19.7% in March 2009 compared to 12.4%-13.5% in March 2008. The rates on individual currency deposits were at 11.6%-12.2% in March 2009 against 7.1%-8.8% in March 2008.
