OREANDA-NEWS. On May 07, 2009. At its special sitting, the Finance Ministry will get a commission to suspend for a month action of licenses of all gambling establishments of the country. The Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko informed in Dnipropetrovsk.

According to her, over this time all competent ministries – of emergencies, health, regional development and building – will make all necessary expertise.

Moreover, during the Government’s meeting draft changes to the draft law on gambling will be considered, in the process of preparing to the second reading in the Parliament. Under an initiative of Yulia Tymoshenko the Government will suggest the deputies to move all the gambling establishments away from inhabited localities. According to the Premier, such practice exists or is being introduced in the number of the countries, in particular, the USA, Kazakhstan, Russia.

The Head of Government said she would address with a special letter the Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn with a request to tackle this draft law with Government’s changes the following plenary week already.

Yulia Tymoshenko hopes the tragedy in Dnipropetrovsk “will teach certain deputies in the Parliament some sense, the ones who roof and lobby the gambling business”.

“The tragic accident in Dnipropetrovsk should be taken as a signal to take cardinal decisions and establish order in gambling establishments all around the country,” the PM urged.

In the result of explosion and fire that occurred on the night of 6-7 May in one of the gambling establishments of Dnipropetrovsk 9 persons were claimed dead, 11 injured.
