OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 May 2009 was announced, that meeting with representatives of Lulesami from the province of Norland (Norway) was held in the Ministry of the RK on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations. Minister Andrey Manin, director of Lulesami center Arran Phillip Mikkelsen, deputy of Lappish Parliament Tone Finnesen, employee of the Arran center Konrad Syatra have taken part in the meeting.

Participants of the meeting have discussed issues concerning indigenous minorities of the Barents region (Sami, Veppsians and Nenets), have pointed out the necessity to expand cooperation between Veppsians and Lulesami in the sphere of education, science and enterprise activity, have paid attention to preparation and implementation of joint projects within the scope of Barents Euro-Arctic Region, directed on preservation of indigenous people.

The guests have visited the Periodica publishing house where they have got acquainted with work of national editorial boards, and the Institute of Language, Literature and History of Karelian Researcj Centre of the Russian Academy of Science with which they have signed the cooperation agreement in the field of scientific research.
