OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2009. The Volkswagen Touareg, manufactured in 2007, was insured with ROSNO against theft, damage and fire in the autumn of 2008, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The insured accident occurred in the village Vagaj, Vagaj district, the Tyumen Region, three months after the client had purchased the insurance policy. About 2 a.m., the car owner heard the sound of an activated car alarm, looked out of the window and saw his car burning. Though the fire was quite quickly extinguished by the fire brigade, still the car’s engine compartment and front cab section have burned out completely.

The fire inspector has established that the fire started on the hood surface and then spread to the cabin via windshield. After the fire was extinguished, a plastic bottle smelling fuel was found several meters from the burned-out car. Based upon evidence of the offence, criminal investigation of this case is under way in the Vagaj district police department, and the search procedures have been initiated.

Following the expertise, the car was classified as damaged beyond repair. The insurance compensation paid by ROSNO to the client equalled 1,336,828 roubles.
