OREANDA-NEWS. On April 29, 2009 Lietuvos Energija AB took part in Job Shadow 2009 – a partnership project between school and business enterprise, initiated by non-profit organization Lietuvos Junior Achievement, reported the press-centre of Lietuvos Energija.
Nearly one hundred 10-12th grade school students from various towns of Lithuania paid a visit to the head office and transmission grid divisions of Lietuvos Energija AB. The project Job Shadow so far this year has involved well over 600 school students. Overall, they visited 118 various companies and their branches.
According to Mr. Eugenijus Savicius, Executive Director of the organization, the program Job Shadow provides a practical link between school and possibility of knowledge application. The campaign is centered around the idea that an employee spends a few hours working with a participant of “Job Shadow” being present alongside and involves him/her into uncomplicated processes of this job, replies to questions and introduces him/her to some of the key features of the occupation.
“It is an experience, providing a feel of a link between the business world and school students – individuals who will later become employees”, - said the Executive Director of Lietuvos Junior Achievement. According to him, possibilities of hand-on approach to business often help in making up one’s mind about future occupation. “Showing positive examples, business from inside is useful in drawing the attention of young people to their opportunities”.
