OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2009. The committee discussed issues related to the organization of ATOMEXPO 2009.

“ATOMEXPO 2009 is supposed to become the central event on nuclear energy in Russia,” the chairman of the organizing committee of the forum Sergey Kiriyenko said.

The vice chairman of the committee Sergey Novikov said that representatives of national companies and governmental agencies from 17 countries, particularly, leading players of NPP construction and operation market and owners of such projects, have already confirmed their participation in the congress.

ATOMEXPO 2009 international forum will take place at the Expo center in Moscow, on May 26–28, 2009. The key event of the forum is international congress “Nuclear Power: Development Through Cooperation,” which will offer state agencies and manufacturing companies an opportunity to discuss the prospects of nuclear energy development and international cooperation in the face of the global financial crisis.

The forum will be opened by Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko.

The program of the congress consists of plenary sessions: "Role of nuclear power in meeting energy needs of developed and developing countries in the XXI century," "The world’s needs in nuclear power plants and conditions of the infrastructure," "NPP Safety Ensurance" and roundtable discussions:

• International cooperation in the nuclear fuel market as a factor of supply security improvement
• Russia’s nuclear power and industry complex: trends and development prospects
• NPP construction engineering and project management
• International science and technology cooperation, building up the base of knowledge
• Decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Radwaste management
• Information and communications technologies for nuclear power
• Human resources for nuclear power
