PM Tymoshenko Maintains Cooperation with Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 29, 2009 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced support of cooperation ties is a priority direction of collaboration between the Governments of Ukraine and Russia. The Head of Ukrainian Government said in the course of the fourth sitting of the Committee on Economic Cooperation of Ukrainian-Russian Interstate Commission.
Yulia Tymoshenko noted, in particular, that enterprises of machine-building and space branch use also Russian component parts that’s why the issues of proper equipping necessitates support on the level of governments. According to her, in the course of today’s sitting of the Committee it is planned to sign a document which will afford creating favourable regime of support of circulation of goods, component parts.
Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko announced a series of issues of bipartite cooperation in the development of energy programs, especially in nuclear branch, are on agenda. Notably, according to Yulia Tymoshenko, among significant projects is joint Ukrainian-Russian activity into construction of power-generating units in Ukraine.
In gas sphere, according to Yulia Tymoshenko, certain solutions exist which are not realized in full. “We have managed to maintain direct, transparent relations in the system of gas supplies to Ukraine and it is rather important achievement for us, now this direction is being developed successfully. But there is a new task, new challenge for us – an issue of pumping up the Russian natural gas into Ukrainian storages”. Yulia Tymoshenko added this topic was also considered during the meeting of the two premiers which lasted over 2 hours.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine disclosed the meeting with her Russian opposite number Volodymyr Putin also dealt with an issue of Ukraine’s participation in the work of International Uranium Enrichment Centre: “It is crucial and Ukraine would like to be the member of this project”. According to the Head of the Government, this topic will be tackled during the CIS Summit in Astana.
“We have to take important decisions in synergy towards furthering cooperation in all the domains that have been joint for our two countries. I am convinced that only uniting efforts we can adequately respond to the challenges emerging in the world economy and ensure appropriate living standards within our states,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.
In his turn, the Russian Premier Volodymyr Putin noted interests of both states will be taken into account in such bipartite cooperation.
