OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2009. The volume of deposits attracted by the banks in March 2009 has increased by 2 million 685 thousand leis as compared with February 2009.

According to NBM, in March 2009, the banks attracted deposits totaling 28 million 182,6 thousand leis, or 10,5% more than in February 2009 (25 million 497.6 thousand leis). This growth was due to increase of the volume of deposits in foreign currency attracted from individuals by 27,5% and the deposits in foreign currency attracted from legal entities by 11,4%.

At the same time, the volume of deposits in leis attracted from individuals and the deposits in leis attracted from legal entities has increased by 6% and 8.45%, respectively. Of the total volume of deposits attracted in March 2009, the largest share of deposits in leis was attracted from legal entities- 57.07% (16 million 84,1 thousand leis).

Deposits in currency attracted from legal entities amounted to 21.18% (5.97 million leis). The most popular were demand deposits in leis and demand deposits in leis interest-free - 18 million leis (63.89% of the total) as well as demand deposits in foreign currency and demand deposits in foreign currency interest-free - 4, 79 million leis (17% of the total).

In March 2009, the average rate on term deposits in leis amounted to 19.36%, including legal entities- 14.31% and individuals - 20.71%. At the same time, average rate on term deposits in foreign currency amounted to 10.18%, including legal entities- 6,78% and individuals - 10.76%.
