OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2009. Commercial banks of Uzbekistan will install 12,500 terminals at trade and service points in 2009 and their total number will reach 40,000.

It is expected that number of issued plastic cards in Uzbekistan will reach 5 million in 2009.

It is also planned to increase number of shops in places with mandatory installation of plastic cards.

In 2008, the banks of Uzbekistan installed 9,752 terminals and issued 787,800 plastic cards. Currently, number of plastic cards is 4.5 million and terminals – 27,504.
