OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2009. Moody International auditors have confirmed that the quality management system of Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), for production of pipes and railroad wheels complies with the requirements of ISO 9001, reported the press-centre of OMK.

They recommended to the Moody International management that the Certificate of Compliance should be granted to VSW for a term until 2012.

In the course of the regular recertification audit conducted during April 6-8 this year, Moody International audited VSW's all production facilities (wheel-rolling ones and those for the production of small-, medium-, and large-diameter pipes), the subdivisions of the Chief Engineer Service, the Directorates for Transportation Logistics, Procurement, Production, and Personnel and Social Issues.

The auditors looked into the issues related to production management, product quality, and personnel competence. For the first time under an audit, the subject of a certification procedure has been VSW's production of seamless pipes made of round billets employing the hot deformation method, which was mastered by the Company during 2008 and early 2009 for the purpose of manufacturing own couplings for VSW-made casing pipes.

VSW received its first certificate for compliance of its pipes and railroad wheels with ISO 9001 in 1999. The certificate term was last extended in December 2007. This certificate guarantees that VSW's production processes are in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001, which, among other things, enables the Company to participate in international biddings for supplying pipes and wheels.
