Ukraine Takes Part in Bertelsmann Foundation Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 23, 2009 Vice Prime Minister for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria in the framework of his official visit to the USA took part in a conference "The First 100 Days. Opportunities in Crisis: Empowering society in times of economic turmoil," organized by Bertelsmann Foundation.
In his speech Vice Prime Minister Hryhoriy Nemyria stressed on imperfection of the world banking and financial system as well as on the need to create its new architecture. Hryhoriy Nemyria emphasized that modern global challenges called for elaboration of a joint global strategy which would be supported by all the countries.
Moreover, Hryhoriy Nemyria informed participants of the conference about efforts of the Government of Ukraine paid to overcome fallouts of the global financial crisis in our country and hailed decisions of London G-20 Summit directed to strengthening of the world financial system, in particular the IMF. Among others Hryhoriy Nemyria expressed hopes G-20 countries will succeed in meeting the assumed commitments.
The conference was also attended by Minister of Finance of France Christine Lagarde and Eurocommissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Joaquin Almunia.
As reported earlier, through April 21-26 Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria is staying on an official visit to Washington, the United States of America.
Hryhoriy Nemyria heads a Ukrainian delegation to participate in Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group.
