Roscosmos Specialists Will Bring Three St. George Ribbons for ISS Crew
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2009. Roscosmos specialists flying to Baikonur from Moscow today will carry three St. George Ribbons which symbolise the victory in World War II selebrated on May 9, memory about the heroes died in the fight against fashism. The ribbons are carried by Nikolay Pugachev, Roscosmos Department Chief. Thus, Roscosmos will begin "St. George Ribbon- 2009" action.
The ribbons intended for the International Space Station crew are to be delivred by Progress M-02M which is planned by lift-off from Baikonur on May 7 at 22.34 Moscow time. The cargo supply vehicle is scheduled to dock to the station on May 12.
In the station, ISS commander Gennady Padalka, flight engineers Michael Barratt and Koichi Wakata will accomodate the ribbons on the interior panel in the TV-session zone.
This year, it is the 5th time the "St. George Ribbon" action is carried out.
