OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2009. A business visit of the delegation of Russian GLONASS-based navigational equipment developers and system integrators to Cairo, Egypt, took place at the beginning of April. The visit was organized by GLONASS-GNSS Forum Assosiation. M2M Telematica experts were also in the delegation. M2M is Russian telematics operator and GLONASS monitoring SW developer.

M2M Telematica specialists demonstrated capabilities of the GLONASS/GPS-based equipment. GLONASS, GPS and GLONASS/GPS systems were used to define the location of the moving object. Positioning accuracy of the GLONASS was compared with the one for GPS. In addition, Egyptian party could see the number of GLONASS satellites available during the test. The results of the test displayed very good results for GLONASS.

Egyptians expressed their interest in usage of the Russian navigation technologies, as well as in promoting these technologies in the Arabic state markets.

Egyptian party was satisfied with the results of this visit. They saw GLONASS` proper functioning, its evolution. Egyptians observed operations of the high-quality GLONASS equipment, which is able to acquire and process signals from the Russian navigational system.
