The Registrar, Moody International, issued confirmation certificates to Pavlogradugol, Komsomolets Donbassa Mine, and Vostokenergo.

In the period from May 2007 to December 2008 three major DTEK enterprises adopted International standard OHSAS 18001:2007. The certification audit carried out by Moody International in February 2009 confirmed successful integration of the OHSAS system in DTEK coal mining and power generating enterprises. To realize this project, DTEK invested UAH 119m in 2008.

At the moment the OHSAS 18001:2007 standards are being introduced at DTEK energy supplying companies - Service-Invest and PES-Energougol. By the end of 2010 all DTEK enterprises will obtain corresponding certificates.

As a result of sustainable work in the area of H&S the Company's enterprises saw significant reduction of industrial accidents. In 2008 overall accident rate fell by 36% y-o-y, and the number of accidents per 100 employees fell by 35% within a year. The number of serious industrial accidents fell by 65%. Thus, DTEK remains the safest among Ukrainian energy-generating and coal mining companies.

"The OHSAS standard makes it possible to introduce best practices and innovative approaches into H&S system. The standard enables us to organize production process and involve employees into building an effective H&S system. In turn, this helps achieve two principal objectives: improve investment appeal and sustainability of the company on the one hand and meet responsibilities to employees more effectively on the other hand, as our people are the fundamental value for DTEK", commented Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK.

"The breadth of the health and safety project being implemented by DTEK is unmatched in the CIS. It is important for DTEK and the whole Ukrainian fuel and energy sector, where working conditions are regarded as the most hazardous ones", said Director for Certification of Moody International, Makhmud Albekov.
