IES Launched New Boiler at CGP-4 Working on Four Different Fuel Types
OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 April 2009 was announced, that within the framework of IES-Holding program on energy efficiency increase a unique power boiler working on four different types of fuel (gas, coal, fuel oil and peat) was put into operation on April 16 at Kirovskaya CGP-4. The cost of such first large-scale investment project comprised 232 million rubles. Governor of the Kirov Region Nikita Belikh and First Vice President and CEO of CJSC IES Andrey Shishkin attended the ceremony of commissioning of the boiler.
Boiler No 9 of GCP-4 was modernized with application of low temperature tornado technology of fuel combustion developed by Russian scientists in
Upon the reconstruction of the boiler its efficiency increased from 79,6% to 91% - in case of burning coal, from 92% to 95,2% in case of running on gas, from 86% to 90,5% in case of burning peat. Ecological indexes of the boiler were also improved - nitrogen and sulfur emissions were reduced by 65%. At that the peak capacity of the boiler increased by 20% up to 250 tones per hour.
Another several boilers of CGP-4 are planned to be switched to the low temperature tornado technology in the next couple of years. "IES applies the most state-of-the-art and energy effective technologies and equipment for its power plants modernization" - Mr. Shishkin noted.
The project is of significant economic importance for the Kirov Region where 40% of all Russian peat is mined. The regional government in cooperation with IES has developed the regional peat mining investment program. Thus VyatkaTorf Company (a part of IES-Holding) is ready to increase its peat mining volumes six fold. Simultaneously the consumption of power plants of Generation Urals Division is planned to be increased to 2.5 million tones of peat per year within the next five years. Introduction of the low temperature tornado technology allows maximum effective usage of this natural resource.
The important advantage of this investment program is creation of new working positions and generation of additional income to the regional budget. This is important production process which will have significant influence on development of the Kirov Region" - Mr. Shishkin noted.
