SOCAR Develops New Prospective Offshore Oilfield in Caspian
OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2009. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) starts developing a new prospective offshore oilfield in the national sector of the Caspian Sea.
SOCAR reports that construction of Platform #2585 was launched for development of block #5 located nearby fields Gunashli and Neft Dashlari. It is expected to produce oil from the block and the platform to be installed at sea depth of 54 m will be drilled 12 wells. The platform will have four 4 jackets with height of 64 m and weight of 600 tons each. Zykh construction and assembling shop has started fabricating two jackets of the platform, while the Baku Deepwater Jackets n.a. Heydar Aliyev two other ones.
Remaining reserves of Neft Dashlari and Grazevaya Sopka (Palchig Tepesi) are estimated in 30 million tons of oil. 78 new wells are to be drilled on Neft Dahlhari until 2010 from several new platforms.
