OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2009. Belarus’ first Internet-portal of regional mass media (www.gomelsmi.by) has been created in the Gomel oblast. It was developed by specialists of the ideology department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and the Belarusian News Agency.

The new Internet resource contains the information about all regional state-run and private periodicals, radio stations and TV studios of the Gomel oblast. All the oblast, town and regional periodicals also have their own websites. The Internet-portal provides information about the correspondent offices of the national mass media which operate in the Gomel oblast, about the activity of the Gomel oblast organization of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the oblast contests for best publications, other useful information.

The Internet-portal of the regional mass media has become the fifth biggest joint project in information technologies implemented by the Gomel local authorities jointly with BelTA. These projects are www.gomel-region.by, invest.gomel-region.by, museum.gomel-region.by and goldring.gomel-region.by. About 2,000 users from dozens of countries visit these websites daily.
