OREANDA-NEWS. On April 22, 2009 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko insisted on implementation of a decision of the Government on sales of surplus lands belonging to the ministries through open auctions exceptionally.

At the beginning of the Governmental sitting the Premier noted issues on sales and rent of over 200 ha of lands of the Ministry of Defence without holding such auctions will be considered.

“I was surprised that the lands of the Defence Ministry in rather huge amounts, including along the coastline, have been given away avoiding auctions,” the Prime Minister stressed.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the Gov’t will find out why the lands had been sold or rented on non-transparent basis instead of filling the budget of the Defence Ministry: “We will be able to analyze this situation and realize why such things took place… As every ministry receives clear instruction that neither property nor land can be just given away in a closed regime, but only transparently and through open auctions”.

Yulia Tymoshenko also reminded the Government had taken a decision that excessive lands belonging to the ministries can be realized exceptionally through open auctions on transparent understandable rules and the funds have to be transferred to the special funds of the ministries.
