Е4-SibCOTES Participates in Solid Fuel Combustion Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2009. Engineers from Е4-SibCOTES will participate in the 7th All-Russian conference Solid Fuel Combustion to be held in Novosibirsk on November 10-13. The event is organized by the Department of Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes of the Russian Academy of Science, Kutateladze Institute of Thermal Physics, engineering company E4-SibCOTES, and the Fund for Small Business Development in science and technology.
The conference is expected to include the following tracks:
Combustion theory and simulation of in-furnace processes;
Solid fuel combustion methods;
Deep coal processing;
Mineral matter of fuel during combustion and processing;
Instrumentation and techniques for in-furnace processes diagnostics;
IT in power industry;
Nanotechnologies in power industry;
Environmental problems related to solid fuel combustion and safety.
Types of paper presentation during the Conference: plenary and poster sessions, workshops and a youth session.
Conference key goals include: joining research forces to solve the problems related to coal-fired power industry; promotion of contacts between science and fuel-and-energy industry; attracting young researchers into power industry.
The 1st National Forum devoted to solid fuel combustion dates as far back as the Soviet Union times. In 1984, it stopped functioning because of the “gas pause" and lack of interest in the matter. However, in 2006, the decision was made to restore the tradition to hold this conference. It took place in the Institute of Thermal Physics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, in Akademgorodok near Novosibirsk (Siberia). Some 150 scientists and practitioners in coal-fired power industry from Russia, Kazakhstan, the Ukraine and Germany gathered at the international conference. A lot of papers were presented which looked into coal gasification, alternative fuel combustion, mathematical simulation of in-furnace processes and experience in firing different coals.
