E4-SibCOTES Young Professionals to Compete for Top Prizes
OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2009. E4-SibCOTES will participate in the 3d All-Russiancompetition of Young Power Engineers. Our speakers are going to make their presentations at two sessions: “Mechanical, water-chemical equipment, equipment for environmental protection and related processes,” “Electrical equipment, relay protection and automation for power stations and networks.”
One of E4-SibCOTES key activities is research and development. Thus, new technologies are developed to improve efficiency and safety of heat and power generation, as well as cut emissions. Annually SibCOTES employees present their innovations at Youth competitions and scoop top awards.
In 2007, the presentation made by Anton Milto, Executive Director of the company, was awarded the 1st prize in the session “Management in Power Industry”, and Mr. Milto was also bestowed the Audience Award. The 3d prize in the session “Automation Systems in Power Industry Facilities” was given to Andrey Yaroschyuk, the engineer from C&L Systems and Metrology Department. Moreover, Andrey Yaroschyuk was the only one from the Siberian Region, who had become a member of the Board of Guardians. The Board of Guardians for “Community of Young Professionals from Scientific and Design holding “Young Energy”” was set up during the contest.
In 2008, Zoya Glushakova, the engineer from Business Development Department, was awarded the 2nd prize (1st prize was not awarded) in the session “Economy, Efficiency, Quality and Marketing". Olga Pilipenko, another engineer from Business Development Department, became a prize-winner in the session “Heat and Power Engineering and Mechanical Equipment”.
“Participation in this competition does not only provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn about new scientific approaches in power engineering, but also gives a chance for networking with our colleagues and proving our own competence which is quite important for young professionals," said Anton Milto.
In 2009, Young Power Engineers Competition is backed by the Russian Ministry of Energy. The competition is organized by a non-profit partnership VTI - All-Russian Heat Engineering Research Institute. Traditional issues to be discussed are design, operation, retrofit, automation, diagnostics and overhaul of thermal, power and hydropower plants as well as heat and electricity networks. For the first time the manufacturers of heat generation equipment will take part in the event.
