Govt and IBRD to Realize Project on Improvement of Ukrainian Highways
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 22, 2009 The Government and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development have agreed on realization of Improvement of motor roads and road safety project.
A respective agreement was signed by head of the State Service of Motor Roads of Ukraine Vadym Hurzhos and Acting Director of the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Pablo Saavedra in the presence of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko.
Yulia Tymoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, announced in such a way Ukraine in synergy with its partners is launching realization of a macro-investment project to the tune of UAH 3.2 bn. According to her, the mentioned funds are being attracted for 30 years and destined for building of a 130 kilometer motor road of the first category between Boryspil and Lubny towns as well as for modernization and reconstruction of other highways.
The Head of Government emphasized the procedure of use of these funds will be transparent, in particular a tender is planned to draw companies to building of the mentioned roads, with 28 companies to have been registered already. “This is a huge amount of works for our builders, for those producing building materials and these are thousands of new workplaces. This is one of the most significant infrastructure projects which will facilitate Ukraine overcoming the crisis,” Yulia Tymoshenko urged.
Yulia Tymoshenko also accentuated realization of this project has become possible owing to effective cooperation of the Government of Ukraine and Ukrautodor with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
