OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2009. In March 2009, the volume of transactions at the currency market of Moldova increased by US 91.4 million (15.8%) as compared with the previous month.

According to the National Bank, in March, the volume of transactions at the currency market of Moldova amounted to US 670.4 million. Average daily volume of transactions grew from US 27.57 million in February up to US 29.15 million in March.

Of the total amount of transactions, 72, 80% (US 488.07 million) were registered with U.S. dollar. The share of transactions with euro made 24.67%, with the Russian ruble - 2.07%, with Romanian leu - 0.10%, with Ukrainian hryvna - 0.01%.

In comparison with February 2009, in March the share of turnover with U.S. dollar grew by 3.9 points, and decreased by 4.69 points with euro. The average rate of leu to dollar amounted to 10.8550 leis, to euro -14.2316 leis, to the Russian ruble - 0.3180 leis, to Romanian leu - 3.3503 leis and to Ukrainian hryvna - 1.3629 leis, respectively.
