OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 April 2009 was announced, that the staff of Garant-Assistance detected an insurance fraud while settling an insurance claim for Toyota Avalon in late March. With the aim to illegally obtain an insurance benefit from Oranta National Joint-Stock Insurance Company to repair the car damages caused by a traffic accident, an insured provided Garant-Assistance with untruthful information and deliberately concealed a number of facts, which could have influenced the sum of insurance benefit.

The professional staff of Garant-Assistance carried out an insurance investigation, collected additional data and documents, and checked insurance payouts of other insurance companies. The checkup revealed that the insured had already received an insurance benefit from Globus Insurance Company but hadn’t repaired the damages until the accident was filed to Garant-Assistance, which settles claims for Oranta.

On the basis of the materials collected by Garant-Assistance and according to Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine “On Insurance”, the decision was made not to pay the insurance benefit. Thus, an attempt of the insurance fraud amounting to UAH 87,000 was exposed due to the wide experience, professional skills and knowledge of the Garant-Assistance staff.

This is not the first time when the professionals of Garant-Assistance expose such a fraud scheme and thus prevent Oranta from paying groundless insurance benefits to dishonest policy holders. Due to the high professionalisms of the Garant-Assistance staff, partnership with other assistance and insurance companies, as well as close cooperation with the relevant authorities, all types of insurance fraud will be detected and exposed.

Oranta filed fraud charges with law enforcement agencies to hold those guilty liable under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on fraud.
