OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2009. In the first quarter of 2009, the Ministry of economy and commerce authorized import about 14 thousand tons of meat and meat products.
 
According to MEC, in the first quarter 5.6 tones of poultry meat, 2.8 tons of pork and 1.6 tons of beef were imported. Most of meat and meat products were imported from Brazil - 2,183.8 tons, or 45% of the total volume of imported meat, the United States - 1,574.6 tones (23.4%) and Canada - 600 tons (10,4%).

Less meat was imported from the Netherlands, Argentina and Poland. In January-March, 15 licensed companies imported meat and meat products. It can be reminded that in May 21, 2008, the powers to authorize import of meat to Moldova have passed from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
