OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 April 2009 was announced, that European banks have resumed crediting of Belarusian modernization projects amid the global crisis, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky told reporters in Minsk.

“German, Czech, Polish and Spanish banks have resumed lending in the first quarter,” the premier said.

He said “nearly all foreign countries regarded Belarus as a stable developing economy.”

European banks have praised the discipline of Belarusian borrowers who “meet all requirements regarding the repayment of loans for the modernization of the national economy.”

The premier said Belarus had taken loans to upgrade Minsk Tractor Plant, Minsk Motor Plant and OAO Keramin.

Sidorsky added that Belarusian companies borrowed from the countries that supply equipment to Belarus.

“Irrespective of the crisis and global turmoil, we will keep upgrading our economy,” Sidorsky said.
