OREANDA-NEWS. On April 13, 2009 a meeting of STA head Serhii Lekar, leaders of departments of STA of Ukraine with representatives of International Monetary Fund took place.

The event concerned the state of flows of taxes and dues to the State Budget of Ukraine, measures directed to strengthening of tax discipline, plans to improve administering of taxes, analysis of problems emerging in the part of payment of taxes.

Representatives of IMF mission took interest in criteria of determination of large tax payers, simplified taxation system, audit, processing of tax declarations and state of modernization of the tax service.

“For the last one-and-half year the STA of Ukraine has taken a line of cardinal measures targeting improvement of administering taxes. Raising of tax culture among the population, cadre potential of tax employees, work with those evading tax payments have already brought positive results. Despite the economic difficulties suffered by the country, flows of taxes and dues still remain stable. So, the State Tax Service has ensured implementation and overfulfilled the estimated showings in the first quarter of 2009,” Serhii Lekar stressed.
The State Tax Administration of Ukraine has made significant steps to ensure development of the tax service. On March 31 of last year a modern contact-centre had been put in exploitation and has been acting in Ukraine on the level of best European and world standards the functions of which has been performed by the I&R department of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.

Highly estimated was the contact-centre by the members of the World Bank mission and Supervisory Council for Realization of the project “Modernization of the state tax service-1”: “Information and reference centre is a significant step in the direction of improvement of transparency and services to the tax payers”. Also the tax service is working over improvement of service for the tax payers and has elaborated an effective risk-oriented system for those evading tax payments.

In June of 2009 the following IMF mission to Ukraine is expected who will be into analysis and determining the ways of cooperation which have to improve activity of the state tax service.
