OREANDA-NEWS. On April 14, 2009 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) found that the advertisement of the "Transit" group of medicines was unfair; and issued a determination to the advertiser - "Evalar" CJSC - to stop further disseminating the advertisement, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

"Evalar" CJSC published the advertisement of the "Transit" group of medicines in No.191 "Metro" newspaper of 9th February 2009.

The products under the "Transit" brand are registered as dietary supplements. The advertisement, however, contained information that created an impression that the products under the "Transit" brand possessed certain curative properties: they clean lymph from impurities and toxins, which protects the body form averse effect of accumulated toxins, improves skin and hair conditions and face colour, held reduce body weight, normalize sleep and improve memory. The text of the advertisement ended with the statement: "…cleansing is the best treatment!"

Under Clause1 Part 1 Article 25 of the Federal Law "On Advertising", advertisements of dietary supplements and food additives must not create an impression that these products are medicines and (or) possess curative qualities.

Under Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations, such an offence is administratively punishable by a fine from 40000 to 500000 Rubles.
