OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2009. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) pronounced that the advertisement of "Pershin" kvass by "Eugene Beaujolais Wine" Ltd. was unfair. "Eugene Beaujolais Wine" Ltd. broadcasted the advertisement by the TV channels "Pervy Kanal", "Rossia", "Sport", "ТV3", "Domashny", "TNT", "NTV", and displayed it as an outdoor advertisement and inside retail outlets in the Russian Federation. FAS Russia also issued a determination to stop disseminating the advertisement, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

FAS Russia received a complaint of the "Association of Lawyers and Journalists" Regional Non-Governmental Organization regarding the following information included in the advertisement: "Grand Prix Prodexpo - 2008 for the best kvass in Russia …" and indication that "Pershin" kvass was awarded a Diploma of the Ministry of Agriculture at the 15th exhibition "Prodexpo - 2008, category "Grand Prix for the best kvass in Russia".

FAS Russia requested a linguistic expertise. The experts confirmed that the information about an award in the advertisement of "Pershin" kvass by "Eugene Beaujolais Wine" Ltd. indicated that the beverage had been endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture. Therefore, the advertisement violated Clause 2 Part 5 Article 5 of the Federal Law "On Advertising".
