Coal Producer Kuzbassrazrezugol Downsized Output by 13.1%
OREANDA-NEWS. April 14, 2009. Coal producer Kuzbassrazrezugol downsized output 13.1% y-o-y to 10.41 mn tons in 1Q 2009, the company said in a press release. Coking coal output fell 2.9x to 465,000 tons vs. 1.363 mn tons. Taldinsky strip mine and Bachatsky strip mine were the best performers, with output of 3.54 mn tons and 1.78 mn tons, respectively.
Coal sales in the reporting period tumbled 18% to 10.41 mn tons, including a 2.1x decline in coking deliveries to 626,200 tons and exports of 5.87 mn tons, compared to 6.75mn tons in the year-earlier period. The company’s approved annual production target is 46 mn tons, including 1.99 mn tons for coking purposes. In 2008, Kuzbassrazrezugol produced over 50 mn tons of coal, up 8% on 2007.
