OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 April 2009 was announced, that within the implementation of investment program of “Integrated Energy Systems” (IES) on input of new generating capacities on the territory of Udmurt Republic the Company will focus on development of Izhevsk power node.

In particular, the Republic will obtain additional megawatts due to reconstruction of Izhevsk CHPP-1 with application of combined-cycle units and realization of project of expansion of Izhevsk CHPP-2 with the fifth power boiler.  The capacities originally planned to be put into operation at Sarapulsk CHPP within the investment program, will not be lost but transferred to CHPP-1. This was informed by Nikolay Skvortsov, the Director of TGC-5 Udmurtsky Branch (a part of “IES” “Generation of Ural” Division), at the board of Ministry of Fuel, Power and Communication held on February 17, 2009 and devoted to the results of the sector’s development in 2008 and objectives for 2009.

According to Nikolay Skvortsov the projects on capacities development in Udmurtia stated earlier in IES-Holding investment program were additionally reviewed within 2008 both on the level of the Company and the Government of Russia. Under results of such work IES Investment Committee made a decision on inexpediency of implementation of project at Sarapulsk CHPP due to the low heat loads of the power plant during the summer period and low demand for capacities in this node. At that to fulfill the liabilities on input of capacities in Udmurt Republic IES-Holding decided to increase the capacity at Izhevsk CHPP-1 up to 170-190MW instead of 140MW originally planned.

In connection with expansion of CHPP-1 project the new concept is being developed now and the earlier made decisions are being corrected. At the same time the works on preparation of the site for construction of combined-cycle plant and transfer of service lines at the power plant itself are under completion.

Within the expansion of Izhevsk CHPP-2 project implying the input of power boiler No.5 the technical and economical assessment has been completed by today.
