Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 1.7% in March 09
OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2009. In March 2009, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 1.305 million tones of cargo (+1.7%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports. According to the source, the result exceeded the plan by 8.8%.
In particular, transshipment of export cargo amounted to 1.242 million tones, import – 656,000 tonnes, coastal-trade cargo - 62,100 tonnes.
In March the port handled 49 vessels including 20 vessels loaded with coal; 19,032 wagons including 15,803 wagons with coal (+10.2% against March of the previous year).
JSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draft and over 265 meters in length. In 2008 the company handled 14.329.183 million tonnes of cargo.
