Belarus-Russia Customs Union to Consider Transit Information Exchange
OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2009. The issues of information cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Russia, implementation of the latest information technologies in the activity of the customs bodies will be considered at a session of the board of the Union State Customs Committee in Rechitsa (the Gomel oblast) on April 10.
The participants of the meeting will consider the implementation of the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the goods transported between the customs bodies of the two states. In particular, the board will discuss the draft protocol defining the order of exchanging information on transited goods, granting of permission for transit, transit completion, other documents. Apart from that the participants of the meeting will consider the draft intergovernmental agreement on observance of prohibitions and restrictions in goods transit between Belarus and Russia.
The session will focus on the new Union State programme “Implementing customs information technology in the Union State”. It is aimed at integrating the information resources of the customs services of the two states and also at implementing joint technologies of information interaction.
The session is expected to approve the membership of the permanent working group for interaction in implementing the risk management system of the Union State Customs Committee. Its experts will develop joint action to identify risks and determine the mode of the information exchange in this area.
The session will also approve the work plan of the Union State Customs Committee for 2009.
Attending the session will be chief of the Russian Federal Customs Service – chairman of the Union State Customs Committee Andrei Belyaninov, chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shpilevsky and also customs experts of the two countries.
