OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2009. In honor of Nauryz holiday Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Bank U. Shayakhmetova attended Special boarding school No. 2 for children with disfunction of locomotor system in Almaty, reported the press-centre of Halyk Bank.  

For many years Halyk Bank is supervising several dozens of children’s homes and boarding schools in the Republic, including Special boarding-school No.2 in Almaty. Every month Bank supports these establishments via its branches.

Modern fitness equipment and different sports accessories have been presented to school No.2 by the Bank’s management for physical growth of children. Boarding team along with Bank employees participated in the fundraising to buy the gifts.

Halyk Bank seeks to make social contribution in the development of the community and social problems, be responsible corporate citizen. Thus, one of the main values of the Bank is corporate social responsibility, both to its employees and the community overall.

As a follow-up to its previous sponsorship and charity activities Halyk Bank is working on three principal directions: computer training, sport and higher education.

Children’s establishments that are supported by Halyk Bank were continuingly equipped with computers in 2008 within the framework of the program “National technologies for children”. 18 children’s homes and boarding schools that are under patronage of Bank around the country took part in the project where technically equipped educational centers have been opened.

For the past five years Bank is financing the social project “National League” which goal is to build an active basketball community. The main goal of the project is to rear sporty and healthy generation of young Kazakhstan people, popularization of healthy life style and spending of spare time by children of the supported children’s establishments of the Bank.

The second enrolment of scholars of the program “National Students” took place in 2008; they were 15 pupils of children’s homes. The program assumes payment of educational fees of the best graduates of children’s homes supported by Bank in economic Universities of the country and granting them scholarships named after Kozhakhan Abenov. Afterwards, scholars will do practical work at the Bank and they will be automatically fixed in the database of the Bank as a perspective reserve.

Within the framework of the social project “Victory Marathon” the Victory Day action is taken place – each year support to the key veteran’s associations is provided.

In 2008 charitable support was made to the victims of the flood in South-Kazakhstan region, also the financial resources have been provided to liquidate consequences of the earthquake in West-Kazakhstan region. The sponsor support was provided to the social fund “New Alatau” for the construction of the new organized zone in Almaty.

2008 year passed under the aegis of the 85th anniversary of Halyk Bank. All sponsored children’s homes have got beneficent aid from the Bank in honor of the anniversary.

It should be noted that charitable actions are periodically held in the Bank, with participation of Bank employees.
