OREANDA-NEWS. On April 09, 2009 SCM was one of partners of the fourth International Contest among business mass media journalists of Russia and Ukraine - PRESSzvanie Business Circles Prize -2008 and arranged a special nomination "Business and society" within the framework of the Contest - a special contest for the best publication on the social issues, reported the press-centre of SCM.

The awards ceremony for the winners of the International Contest among business mass media journalists of Ukraine and Russia PRESSzvanie Business Circles Prize took place on the 4th of April, 2009 in the Teacher's House in Kyiv.

In 2008 there were nine dedicated nominations to assess the journalists (Banking, finances and investments; Mining and Metals; Oil and gas; Consumer markets; Industrial production; Insurance activity; Construction and real estate; Telecommunications andIT-technologies; Electric Energy), three image-making nominations (Best editor of business edition; Discovery of the year; Respect of colleagues), as well as a social nomination "Business and society".

The winners of each of the above-listed nominations were defined by means of independent and absolutely transparent on-line voting of the Jury members, which included business representatives, editors of the leading business, social and political editions and industry experts.

Natalia Yemchenko, SCM Director of Public Relations and Communications gave the following comments regarding the joint project of SCM and PRESSzvanie:

"It is not by chance that our company supports the nomination "Business and society" this year. In 2008 we were deeply engaged into development of the corporate social responsibility principles and their implementation into all SCM areas of activity. Being the biggest national investor we realize that sustainable operation of our company has a significant impact on the sustainability in the regions where a part of and the country on the whole. And we are happy that with the help of talented journalists business and society can start a dialogue, which can help answer the most important question: How can business consider the interests of the society in its development? Today, at the time when social responsibility is the key to efficient and long-term growth of each Ukrainian business it is important that business responsibility towards the society is given professional and unbiased coverage.

Upon the results of the year 2008 the winners in the nomination "Business and society" are: Irina Chernyvskaya, the editor of the Department "Companies and markets" of a daily newspaper Investgazeta (first place), Andrey Blinov, the editor-in-chief of a daily newspaper Ekspert Ukraine (second place) and Margarita Ormotsadze, a journalist of a daily newspaper Vlast Deneg (third place).
