Deflation in Moldova Amounted to 0,8% in March
OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2009. Deflation in Moldova in March 2009 amounted to 0.8%, in the first quarter of 2009 – 1.8%.
According to data of the National Statistics Bureau, in particular, in January-March 2009 2009 prices for foodstuffs wend down by 3.1%, for non-food products reduced by 2%, while tariffs for services rendered to population rose by 0.3%.
In particular, prices for foodstuffs reduced in March by 1.5%, for non-food products – by 0.4%, for services for population – by 0.1%. In March 2009, dietary eggs cheapened by 15.9%, vegetable oil – by 6.1%, sugar – by 5.3%, rice – by 3.6%, fresh vegetables – by 2.5%, milk and dairy products – by 1.8%, meat and meat products – by 1.7%.
The most considerable reduction in prices among non-food goods was registered for fuel for motor transport – by 2.6%, clothes – 1.7% and building materials – by 1.6%. At the same time, prices increased for men’s shoes – by 1.6%, kitchen furniture – by 1.4% and medicines – by 1%. Tariffs for services of production and repair of shoes increased in March by 2.9%, travel agencies’ services – by 1.1%.
Chargeable medical services became 0.9% more expensive, public catering services – 0.3% more expensive. At the same time, tariffs for inter-urban passengers transportation reduced by 4.9%, dwelling repair services – by 1.4%.
