Port of Gdynia Will soon Begin Cruise Season
OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2009. Tourist season is coming and along with tourist season cruisers from around the world will start arriving to Port of Gdynia once again. The season starts on Sunday, May 6 with the arrival of well known Mona Lisa, flying under Bahamas flag. Totally, 98 arrivals are confirmed at this moment. It will last till September 20, when last ship is arriving Emerald Princess under the flag of Bermuda.
Altogether, 27 units under the flag of 11 countries from the whole world are coming to Gdynia in 2009. Most frequent guest is going to be Zenith, appearing 18 times by Gdynia quays. Its followed by Emerald Princess with 13 arrivals and AIDALuna with 10. AIDALuna is this years debutante in Gdynia, as its a Brand New unit placed in service March 16. It is 252 metres long, 32 metres wide and 13 decks. Its gross tonnage is 69 203 GT. The ship got 1025 cabins for passengers and 404 cabins for the crew. On a single cruise it can take onboard up to 2 500 passengers and 607 crew members. Its registered in Italy.
However, its not the most breathtaking one of those that are going to visit Gdynia this season. Emerald Princess got highest gross tonnage 113 561 GT and second highest length after Costa Mediterranea 288,7 meters. Costa itself measures 292,5 meters. Deepest draft got Mein Schiff 8,6 metres.
