OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2009. The Gazprom Headquarters hosted today a joint extended meeting of the Company’s Science & Technology Council (STC) Bureau and the Coordination Board of Research for Gazprom within the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) to address a draft General Scheme of the Gas Industry Development until 2030.

The meeting was chaired by Vlada Rusakova, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Strategic Development Department, First Deputy Head of the STC, Gazprom and Co-Chairperson of the Coordination Board, RAS. Taking part in the meeting were heads and experts from Gazprom Administration subdivisions, subsidiaries, R&D institutions and leading specialized educational establishments as well as representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Energy Ministry of Russia and NOVATEK.

The meeting emphasized the importance of rapid adoption of the General Scheme by the Russian Government in the aim of coordinating production strategies between the domestic gas market players and synchronizing the development of gas production, transportation, processing, underground storage and distribution capacities in order to effect reliable gas supplies to consumers and ensure the national energy security in the long-term.

The meeting participants pointed to considerable scientific relevance of the key principles and development results of the draft General Scheme. Particular attention was drawn to the balance of interest between the domestic gas market players during the draft development process.
