OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2009. "Air Moldova" airline opened one more air route to Italy, and namely Chisinau-Milan-Chisinau, reported the press-centre of Air Moldova.

On this occasion, an action, "Italy Day at Airport", was held at the Chisinau International Airport. Italian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Stefano De Leo, the director-general of the Transports Agency, Vasile Botnari, and the acting director-general of the Civil Aviation State Administration, Iurie Zidu, were the honorary guests of this event. The leadership of the "Air Moldova" airline and representatives of the Chisinau International Airport's administration participated in the event as well.

The "Air Moldova" acting director-general, Iulian Scorpan, said that regular flights bound for Milan will allow passengers traveling more quickly, cheaper and more comfortably, and will exempt them from additional transit procedures.

Scorpan stressed that "Air Moldova" will continue to extend the geography of flights by launching routes to the capital cities of European countries. To this end, the company bought the third aircraft, Airbus A320, via operational leasing, Scorpan said.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Stefano De Leo said that the opening of a new direct route to Italy will help facilitate the citizens' travels, and respectively, strengthen the bilateral collaboration relations between the two countries in diverse areas: economic, social, cultural, etc.

An action, "Certificate Present to First Passengers", was conducted at the inauguration route Chisinau-Milan-Chisinau. The holders of these certificates are granted the right for one-way free airfare (passengers pay airport taxes only) either from Chisinau to Milan or from Milan to Chisinau until the end of 2009.

Flights to Milan will be operated by "Air Moldova" twice a week – every Wednesday and Sunday on a comfortable aircraft Airbus A320.

"Air Moldova" carries out flights in 16 direct directions – Frankfurt, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaka, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Prague, Moscow, St.-Petersburg.
