OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2009. The MDL’s exchange rate against dollar went down by 2.49 per cent in nominal terms and by 4.23 per cent in real terms for the first two months of 2008.

According to the National Bank’s bulletin, the official average monthly exchange rate reduced to 10.6625 lei for a dollar at the end of February from 10.4530 lei for a dollar in early January.

At the same time, the official average monthly rate of leu against euro rose from 14.1303 lei for one euro in January to 13.6257 lei for one euro at the end of February.

At the same time, the leu’s exchange rate against Russian ruble rose from 0.3327 lei for one ruble in January to 0.2992 lei at the end of February.

The total volume of transactions with dollar on the inter-bank exchange realized by banks in February 2009, totaled US 310 million, up US 115.8 million in comparison with the previous month (in January, this indicator totaled US 194.2 million).

The volume of transactions effected by the National Bank on the inter-bank exchange totaled US 145.6 million, up US56.9 million against January 2009.
