GOZNAK Won Tender for Yemen Banknotes
OREANDA-NEWS. April 6, 2009. The tender for the design and manufacture of banknotes with the face-value of 250 riyals carried out by the Central Bank of Yemen took place on January 15, 2009. Leading international banknote manufacturers took part in it. According to the tender results, the design developed by GOZNAK and the commercial conditions offered were chosen the best.
250 riyals is a new face-value among the Yemen banknotes in circulation. The specialists of GOZNAK offered their design of riyals including the latest developments of the Company in the field of security features of the new generation in the history of banknotes. They were successfully introduced by GOZNAK in 2008 at international security printing conferences in Washington D.C., San Francisco, Rabat, Prague, Bangkok. GOZNAK received the award “For the best new product, process or system in the bank production field” instituted by the International Association of Currency Affairs for the development of a security feature to be applied to the Yemen banknote production among others. The distribution of awards took place within the framework of Currency Conference in the autumn of 2008.
GOZNAK will carry out the first supplies of banknotes with the face-value of 250 riyals to Yemen in the middle of this year. In January GOZNAK also won another tender – for the right to supply banknote paper to the Bank of Indonesia. A few face-values of the Indonesian rupiahs have been printed on the paper produced by GOZNAK since 2004. This time the Company will produce 130 tons of paper for the banknotes with the face-value of 50 thousand rupiahs under the order of the Bank of Indonesia.
