OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 March 2009 was announced, that MMK had resumed the construction of the # 2 Colour Coating Line suspended last autumn.

The original plan was to start the installation of the line's equipment already last autumn. However, due to the economic slowdown in the world and Russia, in particular, and the overall drop in production levels at MMK the company's management had to decide on suspending the project.

But it did not spend much time on the backburner. Today work is in full swing on the project, with foundations almost ready for the equipment of whose total amount of 1,400 tons 70% are already on site. The rest, as agreed with the contractor, FATA HUNTER, Italy, is to arrive before the end of March. Aided by four cranes, of which three are already available, the builders will immediately proceed to the installation.

A tentative date has been set for the start-up of the Colour Coating Line, the Steelmakers' Day, which this year falls on July 17.

MMK's # 1 Colour Coating Line had a full production load this March, turning out 17,000 tons of coated strip.
