OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2009. According to NBM, in February 2009, the amount of money in circulation was 453.3 million leis (6.4%) less than in January 2009 (6 billion 781.7 million leis).

In January 2009, the amount of money in circulation has declined by 797 million leis as compared to December 2008 (7 billion 578.7 million leis - the highest level since introduction of the national currency).

According to NBM, in February 2009, net balance of demand deposits in the banking system has decreased by 101.4 million leis (2.65%) as compared to the previous month and amounted to 3 billion 723.9 million leis.

The balance of term deposits decreased by 548.6 million lei (5.5%) and amounted to 9 billion 383.7 million leis. At the same time, the balance of deposits in foreign currency grew by 396 million leis (4%), amounting to 10 billion 223 million leis.
