Sibirtelecom’s Multi-Service Network Approved by Roscomnadzor
OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 March 2009 was announced, that Sibirtelecom received permission from the Directorate of Rostcomnadzor (the federal agency in charge of regulatory supervision in the industry) to operate its multi-service network in the Novosibirsk region.
Exactly one month ago the company completed construction of Russia’s largest multi-service network, which links 11 regions in Siberia. The network is one the country’s three longest networks, with fiber-optic telecom lines spanning a territory over 6,500 km in length. The implementation period for the project lasted over 4 years and was begun in 2005. The total amount of investments was over Rub 2 bln.
“Authorization from Rostcomnadzor shows that the network was built in line with all technical and construction standards. The verification results on the network’s performance indicators at all 11 of the company’s branches show that the system’s facilities are fully compliant with industry standards”, said Alexander Isaev, general director of Sibirtelecom.
The rollout of a multi-service network allows the company to provide advanced telecom solutions, including triple play packages. Special attention could be devoted to national programs involving the installation of Internet facilities at schools and data processing resources at medical institutions. This is a key project from the standpoint of implementing state programs aimed to roll out virtual private networks for local authorities and creating an efficient management system in the regions.
