OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2009. Japan can become a significant partner for Ukraine and assist to upgrade all the systems of life of the country. The Premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has informed a media conference.

“Our main objective is to choose Japan as a core partner and to make a huge reconstruction of energy systems of Ukraine, communications, in fact, to get a renewed country,” the Head of Government underlined.

According to the Prime Minister, Ukraine and Japan have agreed on introduction of a line of programs. In particular, they are the program of modernization of thermoelectric power stations, consuming huge amounts of coal and exceeding the norms of emissions of hazardous substances into the atmosphere. Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized upgrade of the thermoelectric power stations would not only improve the ecological situation, but reduce the prime cost of industrial production.

Beside, the Government of Ukraine has reached an accord with Japanese companies on holding a complex reconstruction and modernization of thermal boilers. As Yulia Tymoshenko explained, the boilers in Ukraine are outdated which forces to pay significantly higher tariffs for the services.

“If we manage to reconstruct the whole economy, we will have reliable heat and water supplies, significantly lower tariffs and, at this, not consume the natural gas,” the Head of Government accentuated.

Yulia Tymoshenko also imparted, one of the Japanese companies is ready to analyze the situation with sewage flowing into the rivers and seas, to make all necessary projects and take part in modernization and reconstruction of the whole system of water supply and sewage purification in Ukraine.

“These are macro projects, these are powerful projects meaning modernization of the whole country but not its certain branches,” the Prime Minister said.
