North Moscow Will Overcome Shortage of Parking Lots
OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 March 2009 was announced, that parking facilities with the total capacity of 17,000 vehicles are to be developed in northern Moscow within 2009.
According to the prefecture of Moscow’s northern administrative district, it is intended to put up 38 parking garages with the total capacity of more than 12,000 vehicles and to build the car parks, including guest parking, eco-friendly parking, etc., with the total capacity of roughly 5,000 vehicles intended for the district dwellers.
The basic part of the parking facilities (to accommodate over 9,000 vehicles) is to be developed in the substructures of the new residential buildings.
Under the program scheduled till the end of 2010, the car parks with 34,000 parking spaces are to be built in northern Moscow. There are more than 143,000 parking lots for motor cars in the district now. At the same time, a number of vehicles registered in the district by January 2009 were approximately 280,000 cars.
More than 16,000 parking lots were developed in northern Moscow last year. The 2008 plan aimed at building car parks in the district has been implemented successfully with a little overfulfilment.
