Swedbank Warns about Fraudulent Bogus Letters
OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2009. Several people, among them also Swedbank customers, have received electronic bogus letters in English requesting them to provide personal financial data – the card number and PIN code. No client has presently suffered any financial loss, reported the press-centre of Swedbank.
All information available to the bank concerning this case will be passed to law enforcement agencies.
Yet, this attempt serves as a reason to remind once again that the bank will never request clients to disclose any details necessary for use of electronic services. Namely, never ever e-mail or tell over the phone such data as:
- the card number
- the expiry date
- PIN
- or the CVV2, which is three-digit code on the back of the card in the white space next to the signature panel.
If you have any doubt about any transaction, letter, e-mail or phone call, always get in touch with the bank and make sure they are genuine. The bank’s phone number is provided on the back of the card.
