OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2009. Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) made a presentation "On the state and development trends of the competition policy in the Russian Federation" for the Economic Commission of the CIS Economic Council (further on referred to as KEV), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Delivering the presentation, Andrey Tsyganov outlined specifics of the competition policy in Russia at the current stage and gave assessment of the competitive environment on the Russian markets.

Deputy Head of FAS Russia described the FAS Russia's practice of antimonopoly regulation and control, control over state and municipal procurement, control over advertising, and governmental regulation of foreign economic activity.

Andrey Tsyganov also discussed major achievements of FAS Russia, in particular, the "second antimonopoly package" and specific proposals on stimulating and developing competition on the markets of the Russian Federation in the time of responding to the financial-and-economic crisis.

Members of KEV expressed high opinion of the presentation, which was approved. It was recommended to extend the practice of discussing reports of the national executive bodies on the key issues of economic development of the CIS countries at the sessions of KEV and the CIS Economic Council.

KEV members also took a decision to discuss the FAS Russia's presentation "On the state and development trends of the competition policy in the Russian Federation" at the session of the CIS Economic Council in June 2009.
