OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2009. Among the delegates was Deputy Director for Safety, Head of Security Service of RFNC-VNIIEF, Chairman of the Public Organization of Navy Veterans of Sarov Sergey Yakovlev.

During their visit to the “Sarov” submarine the delegates presented the crew with icons with relics of Seraphim of Sarov and Fyodor Ushakov.

In 2007 a big diesel submarine of the Northern Fleet was given the name “Sarov.” The same year RFNC-VNIIEF and the administration of Sarov set up a committee to support the crew of the submarine.

The submarine was launched in Dec 2007. In July 2008 it successfully passed builders, performance and state trials.

RFNC-VNIIEF has presented the crew with furniture. The Council of Navy Veterans of Sarov regularly sends them gifts made with their own hands.

For the moment, the committee is considering the possibility of purchasing sports uniforms for the crew. The uniforms will bear the symbols of Sarov and the “Sarov” submarine.
