OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2009. In the framework of the maintenance of the 1st unit of Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, the personnel of the plant, jointly with representatives of INESS CJSC, have completed the installation of ShAR-BM boxes (modernized automatic control boxes). This system controls the launch and the scheduled stoppage of a reactor and regulates its capacity and any changes in it. The greater part of the start-up work has already been done.

This project is part of the program to modernize the control and protection system of the 1st unit.

The boxes have been manufactured by FIZPRIBOR plant (Moscow) on the basis of modern electronic and innovative technologies. The designer of the equipment is the Central Research Institute of Complex Automation.

Presently, the plant is preparing for testing the boxes. If the equipment proves its efficiency, it will be put into industrial service.

Bilibino NPP has sufficient experience and knowledge for ensuring the compliance of the equipment with nuclear safety standards. 

Thus, Bilibino NPP has completed the work to replace ShAR boxes by modernized ShAR-BM ones.
