Turkmen President Reprimands Officials Responsible for Awaza Project
OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 March 2009 was announced, that Oraz Atayev, the chairman of the committee on the national tourist zone Awaza, was severely reprimanded by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on results of his working visit to the city of Turkmenbashi where the president familiarized himself with the pace of development of the tourist zone.
Speaking at a government meeting held in the city of Turkmenbashi, the head of state said the Awaza committee cannot effectively deal with current tasks. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed Oraz Atayev "to correct shortcomings and ensure effective work of his committee in the shortest time."
The president also severely reprimanded Turkmenbashi city mayor Ashyrniyaz Pommanov for "serious shortcomings in work on city development." Minister of education Muhammetgeldi Annaamanov was also severely reprimanded for "loosening control over the pace of reform in education and work of mass media."
Minister of agriculture Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev was reprimanded "for failing to ensure proper control over construction of a number of important facilities."
